All federal agencies with original classification authority (OCA) are required to submit their final reports for the 2022 Fundamental Classification Guidance Review (FCGR) today, September 30, 2022, as specified in the initial 2022 FCGR tasking memorandum issued to senior agency officials by ISOO Director Mark Bradley on December 9, 2021. At least every five years, pursuant to Executive Order (E.O.) 13526, Section 1.9 and the implementing regulation 32 Code of Federal Regulations (C.F.R.) 2001.16, agencies with OCAs must complete a periodic review to ensure that their classification guidance remains current, accurate, and appropriate as necessary to protect national security. The final FY 2022 FCGR checklist for agencies with OCAs to follow in complying with E.O. 13526 and 32 C.F.R. 2002.16 has been available on ISOO’s FCGR webpage since February 2022, as announced here on The ISOO Overview.
Agencies with OCAs should submit their final reports for the 2022 FCGR, as well as any questions regarding the 2022 FCGR, by email to ISOO Program Analyst Robert Fahs, robert.fahs@nara.gov.
